Founders Fund x BDC

BDC is the only bank exclusively dedicated to Canadian entrepreneurs.

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is a financial institution dedicated to supporting Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises. It offers financing, venture capital, and advisory services tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on inclusion. To promote inclusive entrepreneurship, BDC supports targeted initiatives and programs to help underrepresented groups, such as women, individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, Indigenous peoples, and Black entrepreneurs among others. It facilitates access to funding, mentoring, and networking, thereby helping to build a more equitable and diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem across Canada.

BDC wants no entrepreneur left behind. In 2024 BDC:

Served a record number of diverse business owners—21,586 women (+11%) and 1,541 Indigenous entrepreneurs (+18%).

Launched a $50M Inclusive Entrepreneurship Loan, and BDC Capital created $100M platforms for Indigenous‑led and Black‑led businesses.

Through Community Banking, 60 Champions and an Inclusive Virtual Business Centre team, meeting entrepreneurs where they are—while directing 8.1% of procurement to diverse suppliers.

Why work with BDC?

Through our Inclusive Entrepreneurship Loan, we’re helping ambitious business owners from underserved communities get the financing, education and support they need to succeed. Our loan offers up to $350,000 to businesses at least 51% owned and led by women, Indigenous, or Black entrepreneurs. It features affordable financing, no application or annual fees, and the option to postpone principal payments for up to 24 months.
